BUX Zero debuts in Spain, unlocking free trading for 600,000 investors

Amsterdam neobroker BUX launches commission-free trading app BUX Zero in Spain, its 7th European market after an $80 million funding round.

Amsterdam-based neobroker BUX launched its commission-free investing app BUX Zero in Spain on November 3, 2021. Spain becomes the seventh European market for the platform following an $80 million funding round.

The launch brings zero-commission share and ETF trading to Spanish investors. BUX now serves over 600,000 clients across seven countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Ireland, and Spain.

Spanish households accumulated record savings during the 2020 lockdowns. The Bank of Spain reported a savings rate of 14.8% of disposable income, the highest since 1995, totaling approximately €30 billion.

BUX Zero includes an in-app Newsroom that provides daily market updates and content tailored to each client's portfolio. The feature aims to connect available savings with investment education.

BUX operates three platforms under the Dutch Authority for Financial Markets and the UK Financial Conduct Authority regulation. BUX Zero handles share and ETF trading, BUX Crypto covers cryptocurrency trading, and BUX X offers CFD trading.

The company started operations in 2014 and has built its business around user-friendly investing tools. The recent $80 million funding round supports the company's European expansion plans. BUX Zero competes in the commission-free trading space across Europe. The platform targets retail investors who want to access stock markets without traditional brokerage fees.

The Spanish launch comes as European fintech companies expand across borders to capture growing retail investor interest. Zero-commission trading has become a standard offering among newer investment platforms.

BUX maintains its headquarters in Amsterdam while serving customers across multiple European jurisdictions. The company continues to operate under financial services regulations in both the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
